SYLLABUS
Greenberg’s Honors Global Studies
Welcome to Honors Global! This course incorporates history, geography, religion, economics, and culture for five regions around the world. We will take a comparative approach, with a focus on critical thinking, decision-making, and effective human relations.
We are now living in an increasingly global environment, and this course is designed to give you some background and perspective when evaluating this complicated world. Current events will be an integral portion of this class.
Please refer to greenbergglobal.weebly.com to see our syllabus for the year. As you will observe, we begin with an introductory unit on culture and world organizations, and then we will be covering Africa, China, Russia, the Middle East, and India.

EVALUATION PROCESS
- Homework – 10-20 points
- Current event due every Monday we meet - 15 points
- Classwork– 10-30 points
- Tests – usually 100 points (announced at least a week in advance)
- Essays/Projects – 75-100 points
- Extra Credit – may be given at the teacher’s discretion and will be for the entire class (individual extra credit will not be given)
- To succeed in this course, students must attend class, contribute to class discussions, turn classwork and homework in on time, study for tests and quizzes, and participate in instructional activities.
- Late work is always accepted, usually at the price of 10% per day. The assignment will be a zero in my gradebook until it’s handed in. If you’re absent, you will get to make it up the next class with no penalty. If I do put in a zero, you will still get full credit once it’s turned in on time.
- Students are graded on a point system rather than percentages (i.e. 50/50 would equal 100%, 45/50 would equal 90%. etc.)
